What it does
Reads the coin being measured from the daily stats lake, for the last UTC day that has closed: quote volume (USDT traded), trade count, the share of volume bought by takers, or the sum of that day's funding rates.
What happens
Only inside a Universe measure or coin rule, where it reads the coin that measure or rule is checking. It needs daily bars: in a measure, the column timeframe must be 1d.
When to use
Ranking or filtering coins by how much actually trades. Base volume is counted in coins, so 1 BTC and 1 PEPE look alike to it; USDT volume compares across coins.
Gotchas
- Wire it into an SMA or EMA for a multi-day average; on its own it is one day.
- Funding has no value on spot, and a day with no trading has no taker share.
